Born Jane Parsons in 1934, she would appear in the final Second Doctor serial The War Games as Jennifer Buckingham, a nurse and ambulance driver who assisted the Doctor in forming a resistance against the War Lords. She survived the events of the serial and was returned to her proper time and place by the Time Lords.

She took the name of her husband, Derrick Sherwin when they married. Derrick Sherwin had been the producer for Doctor Who at the time of The War Games. When she finished acting, she changed direction, moving into charitable endeavours. She would go on to be the Central America coordinator for the British section of Amnesty International.

She graduated from RADA in 1954 and went on to write and perform collections of poetry for many years. She died on December 16th. She was 88 years old.
