28 Doctor Who Actors Who Died In 2022

17. Stewart Bevan

Doctor Who Stewart Bevan
BBC Studios

Stewart Bevan appeared as Professor Clifford Jones, MBE, in The Green Death. This would serve as Katy Manning's final regular appearance as Jo Grant, as her character fell in love with his, and left the TARDIS to marry him. At the time, art reflected life, as Bevan and Manning were an item in real life.

Bevan would return to the role thirty years later in the mockumentary Global Conspiracy?, written by Mark Gattis. This was a loving spoof of the documentary style, though still treated the events of the story as seriously as possible, in that scenario.

Stewart was something of an activist in his personal life as well. At the age of 15, he stood up for a Sikh classmate, receiving a caning for his efforts. There are many who know him for his string of commercials for Fairy Liquid in the 80s, and for Kelloggs' Corn Flakes in the 90s.

Stewart died on February 20th and is survived by his partner Victoria, and their two daughters. He was 73 years old.
