3. Cersei Lannister

Cersei is one of my favourite characters in the whole show. She is not a nice character but she is a damn clever one. Feminism is not just about subverting gender roles but about empowering women to use gender roles to their advantage and Cersei embodies this notion perfectly. She uses her womanly charms and assets to her advantage throughout the run of the story. During the battle of the Blackwater in series 2 she passes this wisdom on to Sansa, telling her that a woman's best weapon is between her legs. This is a prime example of Cersei using the patriarchal nature of society in Game of Thrones against itself. She uses the way that men objectify her against them and this is what marks her out as a powerful women, and so a feminist character. Cersei's character would be nothing without Lena Headey's brilliant portrayal. In the books she can seem quite a one dimensional character, but Headey understands the character and this lifts her above this simplicity and makes her so much more. She brings a power to the character that makes her a brilliant feminist character.
