5 Radio Plays That Prove a Firefly Radio Show Would Work

4. Torchwood

When he was put in charge of the 2005 revival of Doctor Who, former producer Russel T. Davies had another science fiction show up his sleeve. Through the magic of the Time Lord, his concept---which was to become Torchwood---was woven into the 2006 season of Doctor Who and then spun off into its own show. Torchwood saw two successful series of episodic science fiction on the BBC with a third five part miniseries also airing on the BBC before crossing the pond and airing a fourth series in America. Between the second series and the five part Children of Earth, however, Torchwood made the jump to radio with four episodes of the show produces for BBC Radio 4. Cast members John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Gareth David-Lloyd and Kai Owen all reprised their roles for the radio series with Freema Agyeman reprising her role as Doctor Who€™s Martha Jones as well. Prior to debuting on radio, the idea of a Torchwood radio show was one that fans were divided over---after the final product was revealed and the four episodes aired in 2009, fans were sold and celebrated the idea. So popular was the series amongst fans that three more episodes were produced in 2011 in preparation for the fourth series €œMiracle Day.€ Since the initial broadcast the radio episodes have been combined into two collections; Torchwood: The Radio Adventures and Torchwood: The Lost Files.
