The final episode picked up right where we left off last week. Lester had just sent "The second Mrs. Nygaard" into his shop to be murdered at the hands of Malvo, witnessing her execution from the seat of his car. Malvo calmly left the scene while Lester went in and grabbed his passport from the safe, taking only a moment to look at the body of his slain wife. He proceeded to plant his car keys in her hand and go to Lou's Coffee Shop in order to establish an alibi. He made sure he was seen by both Keith Carradine's character, Lou, and some other patrons before sneaking outside to anonymously report gunshots heard in the vicinity of his Insurance office. Lester was careful to establish that he had been dropped off by the deceased Linda, even ordering her a ginger ale and grilled cheese. When Lester killed his first wife, Pearl, he was just a man who snapped. Since then he has turned into a monster with total malice aforethought. The life of his sweet, loving wife did not matter to him at all. While the show has had a series of gruesome moments, it is the transformation of a mild-mannered man into a cold-blooded criminal that is perhaps the most disturbing thing we have seen.
