5 Ups & 2 Downs From Doctor Who Series 12 - The Haunting Of Villa Diodati

1. The BBC's 'Surprise'

Compared to series prior, the marketing team for Doctor Who has been pretty tight-lipped this year. Not spoiling the 'Fugitive Doctor' until her appearance, nor revealing John Barrowman's involvement in Fugitive of the Judoon. Though this particular tease isn't anything aso dumb as revealing John Simm returning in Series 10, just saying a surprise was coming in The Haunting of Villa Diodati was enough in itself to ruin said surprise.

Additionally, this 'surprise' being no more than the inclusion of the Lone Cyberman one episode earlier than expected wasn't something as explosively exciting as Captain Jack returning. The BBC need to pick and choose when to tease a big reveal, and the best time to pick is never. Let a surprise happen. If the BBC weren't tweeting away saying that 'something was coming,' the Lone Cyberman's surprise inclusion this week could've been much more unexpected.
