5 Ways Marvel Should Assemble The Avengers TV Show
2. S.H.I.E.L.D Disassembled
Continuing with the idea of S.H.I.E.L.Ds day-to-day rankings and missions taking precedence in the show, theres another sub-plot from The Avengers that could quite easily hold its own as a developed arc throughout the opening season. Members of the US government, Armed Forces and other defence organisations in the States were seen sparring words with Jacksons Fury on several instances in the movie. The former demographic were worried here that the publics response to the Avengers Initiative would be less than favourable given the super heroes employed to front it. Of course, few viewers could possibly forget the wonderful media sequence that wrapped up the film (or indeed yet another hilarious cameo from Stan Lee within it), which showed that the public were behind their heroes, but the tension between the government and its alleged super-powered representatives could be picked up on and developed here. Perhaps this sub-storyline could work better as a developing overarching arc for the first season- hit TV dramas such as Doctor Who, House, Smallville and Lost have flourished in including subtle references to events to come throughout their series storylines to help there be a pay-off of sorts for loyal viewers come the finale. Were Marvel and NBCs writing team to do the same for the Avengers show, hardcore comic-book fans would certainly relish in the satisfaction of sticking with each and every episode through thick and thin to see how the tensions between authority and protectors brewed up to the surface over the course of ten-twenty instalments, reaching its utmost limit of danger come the season finale.
