2. Jurassic Park
It was one of the most iconic franchises of the 90s, who doesn't love Jurassic Park? The first film was a huge hit, spawning two well-performing sequels, but it still feels as if there's a lot left to be told. With hundreds of different dinosaurs known to man, the opportunities for storytelling are endless. How about a Jurassic Park prequel series? I imagine it as an hour-long drama on a major network, showing us how the home of the dinosaurs was originally formed on the volcanic island of Isla Nublar. It would be fantastic to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how these scientists tracked down the dinosaur embryos, performed different forms of genetic experimentation, and all the corporate espionage in between. Of course we would see some encounters with the dinosaurs themselves, but those could be saved for special occasions in order to make them more thrilling for the audience. We know that the scientists royally screwed up, then chose to close down the park, but what else went wrong? Sounds like some thrilling drama if you ask me! Director, Steven Spielberg, is no stranger to television, but since he didn't have anything to do with the third film in the series, we know he's not a necessity for success. Spielberg recently gave dinosaurs another go on television with his short-lived series, Terra Nova. Cancelled very quickly because a lot of viewers found the time travel aspect a bit confusing, I dont see why Spielberg wouldnt want to go back to his dinosaur roots. Maybe not so soon since I'm sure the wounds are still fresh, but give it a few years and people will have completely forgotten about the most recent failure, and would welcome a familiar idea back with open arms. As a prequel series, wed be presented with the opportunity to use completely different actors from the film series. But just because we can use different actors, I think it would be interesting to develop more detailed background stories about the characters from the films to see how they came to be.
