5. The Brotherhood Without Banners

As a band of outlaws serving the commonfolk of the Riverlands, the Brotherhood Without Banners, led by Lord Beric Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr, were a fairly major part of the series' third season, as Arya Stark and her companions, Gendry and Hot Pie, joined up with the group upon escaping from Harrenhal at the end of season two.

They were soon joined by 'The Hound' Sandor Clegane, who was captured and faced Lord Beric in a trial by combat, prevailing and securing his release but not before Beric was raised from the dead by Thoros' magic. This added further mystique to the 'Lord of Light' followed by both Thoros and Melisandre, the priestess accomplice of Stannis Baratheon, who soon appeared before the group herself in order to purchase Gendry from them, hoping to use the king's blood in his veins (a result of being a bastard of Robert Baratheon) for Stannis' magical needs. Arya abandoned the group as a result of this, and they have not been seen since.

Gendry, meanwhile, was taken to Dragonstone and intended to be used as blood sacrifice, only to be freed by Stannis' hand Davos Seaworth and sent in a rowboat to Kings Landing.

In the books, Gendry is not sold to Melisandre, instead the role of a 'blood sacrifice' is instead played by another of Robert's bastards, Edric Storm, already fostered with Stannis on Dragonstone, whom Davos' similarly rescues. After Arya's departure, he instead voluntarily goes on serving the Brotherhood, who fall under the command of a new leader after Lord Beric gives up his own lifeforce to resurrect them, becoming a much more violent and indiscriminate band as a result.

This resurrected individual has yet to appear on screen, but could do so as a result of fan clamouring in order to tie up some loose ends in the Riverlands. Here, House Frey are presumably ruling bloodlessly despite widespread hatred of their actions at the Red Wedding, as there haven't been any scenes to suggest otherwise.
