6 Podcasts Being Adapted To TV (And 5 More That Should Be)

5. Should Be: We're Alive, A Story Of Survival

We're Alive, A Story of Survival
KC Wayland

An older title which finished its meaty, four season run back in 2014, We're Alive was originally pitched to be a TV series, but creator KC Wayland eventually developed it for audio. With the success of its podcast run, it seems appropriate TV fare, in this age where podcasts have doubled as great proofs of concept as they are popular media in their own right.

The story follows a large group of survivors of a zombie apocalypse that swept over downtown Los Angeles, California, holing up in a safe haven called The Tower. In apocalyptic zombie story fashion, the survivors find that zombies may not even be their biggest concern.

Even before the heights reached by fiction podcasts in the mid-2010s, We're Alive was pointed to as part of the enormous resurgence of the classic audio drama. It was followed by We're Alive: Lockdown (2016), taking place in Twin Towers jail, and We're Alive: Goldrush (2019), which takes place 17 years after the original story.

Any of these stories and their shared universe could pick up where The Walking Dead left off, allowing fans to get invested in the colourful cast of characters in one of modern podcasting's earlier champions.
