6 Reasons Why An American Doctor Who Would Be Terrible

2. The Tone

The bosses of BBC America continue to completely misunderstand Doctor Who by broadcasting it at nine o€™clock at night despite it being a family-orientated programme with an audience that contains a huge amount of children. So an American Doctor Who would presumably be given a similar timeslot and the tone and would have to be adjusted to suit the time of its broadcast and that timeslot€™s key demographic. In short: it would be significantly grimmer and more adult. I€™d personally expect it to have an X-Files or Heroes vibe to it. Basically stripping out the more whimsical and child-friendly elements and rebuilding it as a distinctly more adult drama with a healthy dose of wry one-liners and extreme violence. But with only small amounts of sex and swearing thanks to the bizarre double standard of what€™s acceptable on American TV.
