4. Better Call Saul (February 2015)

Well, this one's a no-brainer. One of the most beloved characters from the most talked-about and revered shows of the last twenty years getting his own spin-off? Count every Breaking Bad fan in for Better Call Saul. Not only are original series stars Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks reprising their roles as Saul Goodman and Mike Ehrmantraut respectively, but they've brought along a whole host of other Bad alumni with them. Series creators Vince Gilligan (the mastermind behind Breaking Bad) and Peter Gould (who wrote the episode that first introduced Saul) are on board as executive producers, with the former directing the pilot episode and the latter handling showrunning duties. Michelle MacLaren and Bryan Cranston are slated to direct episodes and ex-Breaking Bad writers Thomas Schnauz and Gennifer Hutchinson are both on board as producers, so we have some idea of the quality that's to be expected of the show. Speaking of the show itself, the idea of a prequel to the jaw-dropping events of Breaking Bad might seem a little like burying the lede until you consider that Saul Goodman already seemed to have a pretty interesting life of his own before Walter and Jesse ever entered his life. To be honest, if Gilligan and Gould think they can tell a compelling story about their criminal lawyer before he fell down the meth-hole, then they've already given us reason enough to put our faith in them.
