4. Friday Night Lights
Why You Should Watch It Chances are, your girlfriend will have watched at least one teen drama show in her life such as 90210, The OC or even True Blood. If she has, then she will absolutely fall in love with Friday Night Lights. In the small town of Dillon, Texas, one thing matters - Friday night football. Chronicling the struggles of the Dillion High Panthers, the show is as much about the action off the pitch than on it, dealing with heavy themes such as racism, social degradation and murder. The first season is tremendous and while the action slows down throughout the second and third, the characters are interesting, you won't even care. Why She'll Love It The greatest strength of the show lies in its characters. A pre-Battleship Taylor Kitsch is excellent as the careless Tim Riggins but it's the relationship of the two main leads - Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, that steals the show. The football is actually more of a backdrop than anything.
