The network's longest-running Arrowverse show may be about to depart screens for good, but it's hoping to leave a little something behind (you know, aside from the entire universe that it spawned). That little something could well be one final spin-off, except that this time it will focus on characters that were directly involved in Arrow and even star its long-running leading lady.

That's right, Green Arrow & The Canaries (working title) will see Arrow vet Katie Cassidy Rodgers reprise her role as Laurel Lance/Black Canary (formerly known as Black Siren) as she stars alongside Juliana Harkavy and Katherine McNamara - both of whom also reprise their Arrow roles as Dinah Drake/Black Canary and Mia Smoak-Queen respectively.

The penultimate episode of Arrow's final season will serve as a backdoor pilot, with the hopes that the network will commission a full series for the 2019-2020 schedule.

Undoubtedly a nice way to allow Arrow's legacy to continue, the Birds of Prey-inspired show will finally give the Canaries the spotlight that they always deserved.
