First appearing in 2008, this BBC series was an incredibly fun way to spend the weekend, with its episodic storytelling and wonderfully crafted world. The show ran for five seasons and had a positive reception from fans, many people to this day still discuss how impactful it was.

Like the previous entries in this article, the show knew not to take itself too seriously, but at the same time, it dealt with darker themes that felt intense at times. This really helped to bring something else out of the series, balancing the comedy and the severity finely.

The story of King Arthur and Merlin is one most know, but the show did a fantastic job of reinventing the myth and making it entertaining to watch. The main highlight had to be the ever-evolving dynamic between Merlin and Arthur, which led to some of the shows most significant moments.

In addition to this, magic was outlawed in Camelot, meaning that the central conflict was Merlin needing to hide his magical abilities from Arthur. The application of this stipulation gave the show a real sense of dread.

It's a fantastic show and still a lot of fun to this day.
