8 Best High-Fantasy TV Shows

The most recent fantasy show to make an appearance, this epic series debuted in 2019 and was renewed for a second season almost immediately. Fans of the Witcher books and games were happy to see the material adapted for the screen, and although there are some teething problems, the show does justice to the robust source material that it is based upon.

Following Geralt of Rivia - a mutated monster killer for hire known as a Witcher - the show ties together multiple characters and storylines in an expert debut season that altogether gives a real taste of the world and people who inhabit it. It also has a fantastic eureka moment that ultimately allows agency for the audience to discover in their own time, and that still makes a significant impact upon re-watching.

Henry Cavill tops the cast as Geralt, but the acting in this series is superb, with everyone filling their role admirably. In addition to the characters and world, the swordplay is also incredibly intense, and makes watching equal parts fun and brutal.

The next season will make an appearance in the future, and hopefully, it can continue the trend of high-quality fantasy that the first series depicted so well.
