8 Best TV Series From 2020 That Totally Slipped Under The Radar
3. I'm Am Not Okay With This
A lot of series on Netflix are trying to copy Stranger Things these days, either in aesthetic or tone. Well, I Am, Not Okay With This totally upended that formulae and made a show about a girl who inherited powers from her father, then twisted it into a teen comedy-drama.
It is created from the team that gave us The End Of The F***ing World and was a show that felt like it was completely at home in the modern age of television. Our lead 17-year-old Sydney Novak's journey to discovering her powers was unquestionably dark, but it had real potential to become something special.
It was a great idea as the whole series works on so many levels, both as a dark origin story and a humorous coming-of-age tale.
Sure it may not have been everybody's cup of tea, but for the fans of sub-culture, which has basically become pop-culture in the age of superhero dominance, it was something that we all wanted to see. Brilliantly written and cast, I Am Not Okay With This was given a second season initially.
Unfortunately, it lost its ordered second season because of the pandemic and that was that.
The first season can still be enjoyed over on Netflix.
