8 Best Veronica Mars Episodes

1. Leave It To Beaver (Air Date: May 10th 2005)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHFz8hMj7-4 The discovery of the hidden camera- set up by Logan's father, Aaron Echolls, instead of Logan- leads to Veronica's hunt for and discovery of the tapes from the camera that Lilly had hidden, showing her in that same bed with Aaron Echolls. This discovery and the understanding of what Lilly intended to do, in outing Echolls to the press for having sexual relations with a minor, led to Aaron killing her in a fit of desperate rage. Veronica discovers this in the season 1 finale. Attempting to do the same as Lilly, she is perused and ultimately caught by Echolls, before being trapped in a refrigerator, which is set alight. Keith arrives and proceeds to have one of the best on-screen fights I've ever seen with Aaron, destroying the back porch of this house; every blow exasperated by the total absence of any other kind of sound. It was all purely diagetic. Keith then manages to save Veronica before Echolls is finally apprehended, trying to flee (see above). Meanwhile, in the episode's sub-plot, Logan, drunk and distraught over Veronica's perceived suspicion of him, initiates a fight with Weevil and his biker gang, that would go on to be a recurring storyline in the second season. Veronica's mother steals away with her daughter's money, to feed her addiction and Keith and Veronica can finally rest assured they are genuinely father and daughter, closing the loop on another running story. The sole word I can best think of to describe 'Leave It To Beaver' is intense. The resolution of so many of the show's long running story-lines works an absolute treat, culminating in the very real, very palpable danger that Veronica finds herself in. In being a season finale, it does exactly what a season finale should do and delivers it with a visually striking explosion of aggression, rage and dread. The ending of the episode left ambiguous, as an exhausted Veronica opens her front door to a savagely beaten Logan serves to initiate the bridge into season two and by the time the episode hits the end credits we're glad it decided to use a slow fade, as opposed to a crash. Whilst later episodes (and seasons) had their moments, none managed to be the overall force that this one was. Combining drama, story and action to make a riveting hour of television, it provides the blueprint for the climax of the Veronica Mars movie, released today which I've just now finished downloading! Whether a previous fan of the series, casually curious in the hype or completely new to the show and intrigued by this article and this videos alone; go and give the film a watch and see why it broke all those records on Kickstarter, why its fanbase became such a passionate one. Today's a day of celebration for Rob Thomas, the whole cast and crew and the fans... so let's go watch the film and not be disappointed together, eh?
