6. Deadwater Fell
Deadwater Fell was released on Channel 4 earlier this year as a short 4-part episodic crime drama. The narrative follows an investigation within a small community village, after a house fire kills an entire family apart from the father - played by Tennant. A mystery unfolds over the episodes as the close-knit townsfolk debate whether the fire was an intentional murder or an accident.
Many twists and secrets are revealed as the series continues, during which the viewers and the characters investigate further in to the families' past, framing different people at different moments. All episodes are now available on Channel 4 catch up and can be binge-watched easily in one sitting, with each episode ending with a grip-your-seat cliffhanger to lead on to the next.
Tennant plays both a sinister and caring character, as the family and the father are revealed to not be as charming as first thought from everyone who lives in the town. Without revealing the ending, you'll be never quite sure until the true story is revealed to what is fiction and what is truth.
