8 DC Comics Characters The Arrowverse Has Saved

2. Vibe

Supergirl Show Comics
The CW

Hands up who had heard of Vibe before the character became a lead on The Flash? The chances are that only if you are a hardcore DC comic book reader, or more specifically a fan during the 80s, you will have heard of this Justice League Detroit member. Thanks to The Flash, though, now everyone knows and loves Cisco Ramone.

In the comics, Francisco 'Paco' Ramone AKA Vibe was part of an initiative to introduce a range of more diverse heroes into the League. While the heart of the concept was in the right place, the execution really wasn't. Initially presented as a break-dancing street gang leader, Vibe was a massive stereotype. In The New 52, his sonic abilities were amped up massively, giving him dimensional-warping powers, but he still wasn't that big of a deal.

Along comes 2014's The Flash, then, and transforms him into a geeky genius engineer with a penchant for movie references and a heart of gold. Brilliantly played by Carlos Valdes, Cisco has had his ups and downs over the seasons - his moping in the first half of season three was hard to sit through - but mostly it has been great to see him grow from tech support to aspiring hero. He's probably even the best character on the whole show.
