8 Doctor Who Moments The Creators Don't Like

7. Russell T Davies Wishes He'd Changed One Specific Line

The first episode of the 2005 revival, Rose, was a really solid way to bring Doctor Who back to our screens, as proven by the fact that the show is still going 15 years later.

While not perfect, Rose - much like The Day Of The Doctor - is adored by the vast majority of the fanbase, but even still, the man responsible for writing it isn't 100% pleased with every single creative decision he made.

That man is former showrunner and all-round top bloke Russell T Davies, and in an interview published in Doctor Who Magazine #551, he talks about specific lines of dialogue he wishes he could change, singling out a scene from Rose as an example.

The scene is the one where the Ninth Doctor says "lots of planets have a North". When Davies originally wrote this scene, there was an extra line "But not all of them", which was eventually removed. However, Davies now regrets this decision, and during the interview, he says that he would go back and add it in if he could.

It's a minor detail that wouldn't change anything about the episode or the character, so it's actually quite strange that Davies is still hung up on it all these years later. Quite frankly, you'd think he'd be more regretful about the Abzorbaloff or the farting Slitheen.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
