8 Greatest TV Battles That Ever Hit The Screen

5. The Walking Dead – Too Far Gone

Game Of Thrones isn't the only show to capitalize on the pleasures and perils to be gained from pitting a bunch of human characters against the undead – far from it. While zombie drama The Walking Dead has a bunch of brilliant action set pieces, arguably the greatest occurs during the season four episode Too Far Gone.

The battle works for a bunch of reasons. For a start, the conflict with The Governor had been ongoing since season three, and the episode finally puts an end to the prison story arc. Secondly, it's completely action packed, featuring everything from a prison break to revolting inmates and more. Oh, and there's a tank that blows holes in the prison, too.

What's also notable about the episode is the weight of its consequence. The amount of character deaths is huge, including The Governor, Hershel Greene and Lilly Chambler. There's also a bitter-sweet tone to the ending, as hundreds of walkers enter the prison to consume whoever is left behind.
