8 Greatest TV Battles That Ever Hit The Screen

Following the immense hype and acclaim received by the Game Of Thrones season six episode Battle Of The Bastards, it should come as no surprise that it's coming in at number one on this list.

There are a whole bunch of reasons why this fight was so damn great. For a start, the look and feel of the battle was cinematic across the board: from the sheer scope of the thing to the gorgeous cinematography and the absolutely frantic, suffocating edit. Filming the battle apparently required twenty-five shooting days, five-hundred extras, six-hundred crew members and seventy horses.

But that's not all. The Battle Of The Bastards also worked on a narrative level, at long last giving fans a climactic ending to the conflict between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton. Winterfell was restored, Ramsay was killed and Jon Snow proved his resurrection had meaning. It was amazing in every sense of the word, and no-one would have batted an eyelid if they'd seen up on the big screen.
