8 Hated TV Episodes That Deserve Redemption

4. Frank's Brother - It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

The Simpsons Principal And The Pauper
FX

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a true rarity in long-running sitcoms because it’s just as funny now as it was a decade ago. An outrageously talented cast and whip-smart scripts means that each season continues to produce fantastic episodes year after year.

But even a show as beloved as this must have a few that slightly miss the mark. And for many Sunny fans, that episode is Frank’s Brother.

One of the biggest criticisms of this episode from fans is that the main cast, save for Danny DeVito’s Frank, are side-lined for this episode in favour of a flashback story. Therefore, whether or not you like the episode will largely depend on your opinion of Frank as a character.

And DeVito truly shines in this episode during the ridiculous telling of how Frank and his older brother Gino fell out over a woman they were both infatuated with. The ending where the Gang helps Frank find the woman in the modern day and conclude that she wasn’t really worth the effort anyway is also a classic cynical Sunny moment.

Don’t skip this one when you rewatch season seven next, though. It’s so much better than you remember.

Owen Davies hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
