8 Reasons The Walking Dead Has Lost Its Way This Season

1. Negan Failed To Live Up To The Hype

Negan's biggest claim to fame isn't Lucille, it's that dumb grin he's always wearing. The one that never leaves his face, and seems to indicate that he knows something everyone else doesn't.

Like the secret to how he even manages to stay alive while acting like a complete and utter tool while surrounded by men with guns.

Negan's failures don't just stop there however. Compared to someone like The Governor, who was given a fairly compelling back story, he's a one-note caricature with no substance. Why is he Negan? How did this man inspire so many to follow him when he's clearly bent? What qualifications did this guy have for the job over, say, anyone?

Not to mention the fact that he just cannot seem to off any key member of Rick's group. Were Negan truly the effective dictator the show would have us believe, Daryl, Rosita, and Carl would be dead by now. All three, after all, have attacked Negan's group, yet he gives them chance after chance.

It's bad writing. Maybe AMC figures fans will accept it because Negan already took out Glenn and Abraham - see, he'll do anything! - but it's clear now that Negan was a solid concept poorly executed. With no real depth, he's just a jerk with a knife, barbed wire bat, and a s***-eating grin that never goes away.
