The greatest asset that the show has is its diverse and wide-ranging cast. Think about it, no show has ever done well without a dedicated and ever-maturing cast that make the show better as it runs through series.

The bigger the cast the harder it is to keep everything together and have diverse plot threads. Seinfeld had four, Friends had six, but Superstore has a core eight with four or five more supporting. How it managed to juggle a large cast like that and remain committed to every character is just a testament to how good the writing team was.

All of them have their chance to shine at one time or another but also are given the opportunity to grow as individuals and come across the screen as real workers that at best are apathetic to their jobs.

With leads like America Ferrera and Ben Feldman jumping in at the deep end in terms of focus, it gave the rest of the cast a chance to build themselves into their characters. Whilst the audience concentrated on the stars of the series, the supporting cast came into the fore a lot more and rounded out the show with wholehearted dedication.
