So far this list has included actors who have contributed to the Whoniverse both on and off screen and here's one who has accomplished both. Meera Syal will be recognised for her portrayal of Dr Nasreen Chaudhry in the 2010 two-parter The Hungry Earth and Cold Blood (which were, coincidentally, penned by Broadchurch's creator and head writer Chris Chibnall) and she's also lent her talents to the show's tie-in adventures by reading the audio story The Gemini Contagion and the audiobook release of the Borrowed Time novel. She's also married to Sanjeev Bhaskar who guest starred in Series 8 which isn't really relevant but nice to know all the same. Meera is joining Broadchurch and she'll have a "pivotal" part to play in its proceedings but further details regarding her character have remained undisclosed. Chris Chibnall keeps his cards very close to his chest. You can tell he used to work on Torchwood. Speaking of which...
