4. Eve Myles

One of Broadchurch's most exciting Series 2 signings is Eve Myles who will be joining its stellar cast ensemble as Claire Ripley. Eve is, of course, best known for her portrayal of Gwen Cooper in Doctor Who's acclaimed spin off Torchwood but she was originally introduced in its parent show as Gwyneth, a psychic Victorian maid, in Series 1's The Unquiet Dead back in 2005. There's been a distinct lack of Eve Myles on TV as of late but she has been having a baby - her second daughter, Siena, was born last year - so she's been otherwise engaged. It'll be great to have her back on our screens and it'll be interesting to see how her storyline develops. Not much is known about her character but she'll no doubt be harbouring a secret or two of her own. That's basically Broadchurch's MO, isn't it? Let's hope it isn't that she's secretly working for an alien-busting organisation, because she's never done that before...
