8 Things Watchmen TV Show Must Do Differently To Zack Snyder's Film

1. Get Over The Book's Importance

The main problem with Snyder's film is that it tried to do almost too much. There are three cuts of the original Watchmen film, with the longest boasting a staggering 215 minute running time, and while this did come as a consequence of Snyder's commitment to making a truly authentic adaptation, it undoubtedly amplified the inherent problems that came with such a task.

Watchmen is one of, if not the most seminal comic book ever published. That's a big moniker to weigh on any auteur who gets involved with that mythos, whether it be on the page or off it, no matter how big the production.

Indeed, there's every chance that its reputation could hurt any future adaptations of the original material, and while that is the case, it's surprisingly encouraging to hear that Lindelof won't be strictly adhering to the original text. If he makes the material his own - as some purists surely fear - then there's every chance that it could work.

It won't come close to the Moore/Gibbons text, but the sooner we get over that - and indeed, the sooner the showrunners do too - the better the adaptation we'll receive.
