With the Terrigen Mist wreaking havoc across the globe after the activation of the T-Bomb, new Inhumans were being discovered everywhere. One of those Inhumans was Ulysses Cain, a college student at Ohio State University who alongside his classmate Michelle, was exposed to the mist and underwent terrigenesis.

Michelle emerged as a dangerous and monstrous being, with demon wings and red skin. Ulysses was granted precognitive abilities as in he can forecast the future. His "visions" of the future were so powerful and overwhelming that he ran away in an attempt to escape.

He is eventually found, and brought to Queen Medusa, by members of the Royal Family so he can be evaluated. He is trained by Karnak for many weeks, in the hopes that he could strengthen his understanding of his visions, and predict the future accurately.

When he correctly predicts an upcoming event, the Inhumans use his knowledge to prevent the catastrophic event from happening which intrigues Captain Marvel, who sees this ability as the best way to protect Earth. When Tony Stark hears of Ulysses' power, he is livid at the idea of his fellow heroes using those visions to "play god", beginning Civil War II.
