8 Ups & NO Downs From Star Trek: Lower Decks 5.2 - Shades Of Green
2. UP — Twice T'Lyn'd
So, the best things do come in twos not threes, and we've been T'Lyn'd once again. In Dos Cerritos, T'Lyn cracked a joke. In Shades of Green, she cracked an entire shuttle. Always the friend indeed, T'Lyn went full-on 'deception' mode in this episode in order to spend time with a friend in need.
T'Lyn might have very nearly given Rutherford a heart attack for Doctor T'Ana to scratch and swear about, but she clearly cared. Her plan was to coax/"deceive" Rutherford into working on the Sequoia under the guise of requiring a partner for her senior science officer training, not realising that was a Tendi project he was trying to save for her return. Oh, and if I had a penny for every awkward social situation in which I've just stood there "staring off into space and doing nothing"!
T'Lyn only properly arrived in season four, but she has already made her mark amongst this most lovable ensemble. A certain Vulcan dry wit, combined with Lower Decks' unique humour, provides for some outstanding scenes. Smashing the Sequoia to smithereens with a mallet, as Goodgey hides in the background, T'Lyn simply notes, "Oh, no. Whatever shall we do?"
With so few episodes left with the lower deckers, we might, more seriously, ask ourselves the very same question!
