8 Ways DC Could Actually Save Titans

5. Make Robin's Anger Work

Of course, the main talking point from last week's trailer was the line delivered by Brenton Thwaites' Robin, where he exclaims "f**k Batman" after laying waste to several or so thugs in an alley.

In this instance, it's not the intent that's wrong so much as it's the delivery. There's absolutely nothing bad about depicting Dick Grayson's transition from Boy Wonder to working the Blüdhaven beat as Nightwing, because it's an important moment in the character's history. The issue here is that his grievance with Batman is condensed into a throwaway line that makes Dick look like a whiny, homicidal brat, and not like an adult on the cusp of outgrowing a mantle and finding his own way in the world.

Done properly, and a Titans show centred around this journey could be brilliant, but it's not even necessary either. A Nightwing film is currently underway and will no doubt broach these themes, so there's a danger that DC could end up repeating themselves in two different mediums.

Either way, emphasising this relationship and transition in a worthwhile and nuanced manner could yet become the series' saving grace. For now, though, having Robin swear about his adoptive father just isn't going to do the trick.
