Where We Left Off: Olivia "Liv" Moore is a zombie who can maintain her intelligence and basic humanity as long as she consumes brains often, and therefore works in a coroner's office, getting psychic flashes off her food sources which she uses to help solve crimes. (She also absorbs bits and pieces of their personalities, which is usually good for a chuckle.) The Season 1 finale left Liv with some hard choices, among them the decision to zombify Major, her zombie-loathing boyfriend, to save his life. Even though she then treated him with an experimental cure, this ended their relationship, at least for now.

Where We're Going: Season 2 will bring back Peyton but also bring a new best friend into Liv's life, continue the larger story arc about Seattle's "zombie problem" and feature the brains of a grumpy old man, a total fratboy and a "Real Housewife of Seattle."

Latest News: Apparently Liv is set to team up with Blaine, the last season's main villain, simply because all zombies, current and former, are now in danger, and Major will be falling into a Utiopium addiction even worse than the hunger for brains.

Tomatometer Score: 91 (for Season 1, the only season so far). Sharp, witty dialogue, engaging characters, and surprising, far-reaching plots elevate this one above its simple, procedural setup.

Returning: October 6, right after The Flash.
