3. The Flash

Where We Left Off: Eddie Thawne and Eobard Thawne are dead, Caitlin Snow and Ronnie Raymond are married, and, despite Barry Allen/the Flash running really fast to stop it, a giant science-vortex might be about to eat Central City, or maybe just screw with the past and make everyone's histories all different. Probably that.

Where We're Going: Season 2 will include Jesse Quick, the villain Tokamak, Jay Garrick, Patty Spivot, Zoom and Wally West, plus Atom-Smasher, Doctor Light (Kimiyo Hoshi), Mirror Master, Dr. Alchemy, and, in what has to be the biggest surprise on this list, Captain Cold and Golden Glider's estranged dad.

Latest News: So far, producers are pretty tight-lipped about Season 2, and given all the time-travel flying around Season 1's finale, all bets are off. Will Jay Garrick be known as the Flash when the smoke clears? Will Barry have never lived with Iris? Will Barry's mother actually end up alive after all? Will Captain Cold become a game-show host? Will Atom-Smasher just be a guy who wanders onscreen, squishes the Atom with his shoe, and then wanders off again? Anything can happen.

Tomatometer Score: 96. Grant Gustin makes a lovable Barry with a down-to-earth purity in or out of costume. If you're looking for old-school superhero fun, this series is a good bet.

Returning: October 6.
