9 Doctor Who Characters Who Need To Meet The Twelfth Doctor

8. The Ninth Doctor

In the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, multiple-Doctor storylines were explored for the first time in NuWho's history. Fans saw the Tenth Doctor brought back to aid Eleven, as well as the introduction of the War Doctor, and at the very end of the episode appearances from all previous Doctors as well as the then future Time Lord, Peter Capaldi. It certainly was an interesting development. While this kind of teamwork had been explored numerous times during Classic Who and had been a big hit with fans, it was something that had as of yet not been visited since the 2005 revival. It certainly opened the door and paved the way for what could happen in future specials. Looking at Capaldi's Doctor, arguably one of the most interesting Doctor's to potentially feature in a double-Doctor storyline would be the Ninth. Obviously Eccleston has shown no interest in ever going back to Doctor Who and it's pretty much guaranteed to never happen but it's still interesting to explore nonetheless. Christopher Eccleston is known as the dark Doctor among Whovians. Straight from the Time War, Eccleston is serious, hardened and weathered by what he has witnessed. He had no time for fun and games and no time for nonsense. As such, there are a number of ways a multiple Doctor meet with Nine and Twelve could go but could they potentially be too dark for each other? People are already complaining that Series 8 was too dark and depressing for children so add the notorious 'dark' Ninth Doctor into the mix and maybe it would just be too much. On the other hand, Capaldi does have a playful side that is seen shining through on occasion. Would this side be more dominant if he were faced with a fellow Doctor? If so, would the playful side of Capaldi annoy Eccleston? Nine never came across as a playful Doctor so whether that would sit right with him in his future self is another question.
