9 Game Of Thrones Characters With Severe Personality Disorders
7. Joffrey Baratheon
Sociopath with sadistic tendencies
Given his parentage, it is little wonder that Joffrey turned out to be such a psychotic little twerp.
Although, as an under-18, Joffrey couldn't be given an official diagnosis of sociopathy - which is technically called Antisocial Personality Disorder - he'll thankfully never make it that far so we'll have to go with it.
Joffrey is completely devoid of empathy, and takes active enjoyment in the violation and harm of others. Although he doesn't display much of the false charm that sociopaths use in order to get their own way, he did initially pretend to be a good and noble boy for the benefit of Sansa, before turning on her in the most sadistic way imaginable.
In the context of Westerosi society, in which mortality is much more normalised, some of his behaviour could be mitigated as being performed in the line of duty. After all, we saw Ned Stark straight up execute a dude and everyone seemed fine with it.
However, it is the private pleasure that Joffrey derives from the pain and suffering of others that puts him firmly in that sociopath box.
