SEVEN HELLS, NED! The chubby yet formidable Robert Baratheon ruled the Seven Kingdoms for years after his rebellion was won. He brought an order Westeros may never see again and he didn€™t allow himself to be corrupted by power. He was a good King.

He had an all-consuming and enduring love for Lyanna stark that would not be laid to rest with her and this eventually led to his downfall. I€™m not so sure he didn€™t want it that way. He cared little for being King and even less for his wife. He may have preferred to die in the rebellion.

When Robert died, the Lannisters assumed power in King€™s Landing but the multiple claims to the throne and the dispute that followed is still rocking the land. His bastard Gendry is floating around, his younger brothers have bloodied many a field and the Greyjoys are still recovering from his wrath.

The stories of his battles are many and widespread, painting him as a no-nonsense impassioned warrior. His death however was anticlimactic, fitting with his life after the rebellion. His death is the death of the old heroic way of righting wrongs and the birth of treachery and low power mongering.
