A Series Of Unfortunate Events Season 3 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

5. The Satisfying Character Development

While it'd be easy for a show this zany to coast on its sheer daftness, season three did a great job ramping up the character development ahead of the final stretch.

This is particularly true in the case of the Hook-Handed Man (Usman Ally), who gets a surprisingly substantial role this season and whose arc is perhaps the most compelling of all.

Elsewhere Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) himself gets a more direct integration into the narrative while having his own mysterious past paid-off, and even Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) ends up feeling more like a human being and less like a walking cartoon when it's all said and done.
