The Episode: Beginning Of The End

Though the mystery surrounding the identity of the Clairvoyant had been a running thread throughout the first season, it wasn’t until the fall of SHIELD that the charismatic John Garrett was exposed for who he was. 

With a grudge against SHIELD and infused with the technology granted to him from the original Deathlok program, it was revealed that Garrett’s primary goal all along had been to discover the mystery behind Coulson’s resurrection in order to save himself. When he was injected with GH.325 near the end of the season, he began experiencing alien visions and became more dangerous than ever before.

In the season finale, Garrett was finally confronted by Coulson and Nick Fury, with Mike Peterson at his side. Mike finally reclaimed his humanity and turned on him, seemingly killing him, though Garrett barely survived and later managed to climb into a machine that granted him new cybernetic enhancements. Fortunately, before he could reap the rewards and cause more problems, he was terminated once and for all by Coulson with the plasma beam his team had recovered from Peru.
