Agents Of SHIELD: 10 Reasons Season 2 Is A Massive Improvement

9. Better Villains

Season 1 offered some decent adversaries but many had that kind of 'meta-human of the week' feel, as if they'd wandered in off the set of Smallville or The Flash. Season 2 has offered some meatier foes, especially Creel, the Absorbing Man, able to turn his body into any substance he touches. His punch to the front of a car was a brilliant special effect and it ended up killing two agents, including Xena: Warrior Princess! Daniel Whitehall has also been a great villain with some top class HYDRA operatives at his disposal. The best of these is Agent 33, a former SHIELD agent broken by HYDRA's brainwashing techniques. When wearing a Mission: Impossible style mask that made her look like Agent May, 33 was electrocuted and now the mask has bonded itself to her face with a huge scar patch over one eye. Now she's off with Ward at the end of the mid-season break, who knows what she'll do next?
