Agents Of SHIELD: 10 Reasons Season 2 Is A Massive Improvement

8. More Action

One thing that SHIELD has improved upon immensely is the quality of its action. Season 1 had the odd decent fight (the Ward/May face-off being by far the best) but Season 2 has pulled out all the stops, providing bone-crunchingly brilliant fights on a regular basis. The face-off between Agent May and her doppelganger Agent 33 was brilliant, with no piece of furniture or wall space unused during their titanic duel. Skye's fight with Agent 33 later in the run was also excellent. Coulson has also got his hands dirty, fighting both the Tattooed Man and Skye's father while a possessed Mack threw the agents about like toys. The special effects have also been much better this season, allowing some aerial dogfights involving the Bus and HYDRA that are the match of the ones in the films. Season 1 often looked like a TV show pretending it was a movie; this season Agents Of SHIELD looks like a movie posing as a TV show. This extends to the sets and locations too which all give the show the feel of a big budget feature.
