Arrested Development: 20 Greatest Running Jokes

14. "No Touching!"

670px-No_touching "No touching!" is a staple phrase in the Arrested Development lexicon, most commonly used by the prison guards at the jail where George Snr. is being held for much of the first season. The first time we hear this now iconic slice of dialogue, George Snr. tries to feed his visiting son, Michael, an ice cream sandwich. Later on in the show's run, though, "No touching!" finds its way into all sorts of scenarios, including one moment where Lucille tries to strangle Michael. Usually the utterance of "No touching!" is paired with a character stopping what they're doing and standing with their arms in the air. Given that so many characters in the Arrested Development universe have been in jail, though, this phrase always finds its way in. Considering how little the Bluth family want to touch one other outside of prison, it's somewhat ironic (and sad) that they can't seem to make contact when they need it most.
