The pilot episode had a lot riding on it. This was the episode to show fans of the comic that they were treating the source material with the right amount of respect, while also convincing people not really aware of the character to watch it as well. Clearly it did a pretty good job, because he we are three years later ready to head into season 4. It introduced us to Oliver Queen, returned home after five years stranded on a deserted island, trying to reconnect with his friends and family. However, he's also trying to honour his father's legacy, with his 'kill list' of people who have failed Starling City. Thus we see, for the very first time, Oliver putting on the Hood and using a bow and arrow on someone. It may have been a fairly rudimentary costume, and his skills lacked the refinement they have now, but this was the first instance of the show announcing its hero, so it deserves remembering for that.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
