Arrow: 10 Mistakes It Must Fix In Season 5

4. Too Much Soap Opera

Arrow Mistakes Oliver Felicity
The CW

This ties in with the Felicity 'problem', but it's become a wider issue that does stand on its own as something the show needs to fix.

Being on The CW, Arrow has always had its soap opera elements, with OTT relationship drama and such like. However, they've always been secondary to the action and Oliver's life as the Arrow.

Increasingly, though, these elements have started becoming a bigger and bigger part of the show, to the point where episodes are centred around them, and the superhero action becomes the subplot. 'Olicity' is the most obvious example of this, with Oliver and Felicity's relationship drama working its way into all aspects of the show. That's not solely to blame though, as we've seen it with everyone from Quentin and Donna's relationship troubles to Oliver's baby mama drama. While it's important to flesh characters out and give them a life outside of the costumes, the writers need to stop that aspect from becoming the show.
