Arrow: 7 Things You Learn Rewatching Season 1
5. The Pilot Episode Was Essentially Just Batman Begins
While the first two seasons of Arrow have been described as television's answer to Christopher Nolan's critically-acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy, you'd be surprised by the similarities that the pilot episode shares with the first of Nolan's three films Batman Begins.
A rich billionaire returns after a long time away, only to find himself struggling to fit in. However, when his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, who has grown up to become a great lawyer, attempts to bring a case against one of the city's most untouchable (and dangerous) monsters, he debuts his heroic persona and confronts said monster in a limousine. But he can't let her know the good man that he has become and thus, resorts to maintaining his playboy personality in order to protect her.
It's true, Oliver's story certainly mirrors some of Bruce Wayne's debut adventure in the 2005 film, while Laurel Lance's attempt to bring down Adam Hunt also appears to share similiaries to Rachel Dawes' attempts to do the same with Carmine Falcone. And you can't really blame the creative team behind Arrow for being inspired by one of the greatest superhero trilogies of all time.
If only later seasons would have followed in the debut offerings footsteps...
