Arrow: 8 Plot Threads That Need Resolving In Season 4
8. Diggle And Olivers Relationship
Oliver and Diggles relationship has grown considerably alongside the show, going from his bodyguard to a man who was almost his equal at crime-fighting, and his best friend as well. This brother-like bond was what made it all the worse for Diggle when Oliver kindapped Lyla and left baby Sara all alone. It wouldve been bad if it had just been a member of the League of Assassins doing it, but there was a huge betrayal of trust involved, even if Olly was only playing a part. That bond has been very much broken, and its going to take a lot of work to fix it. Its something the show will need to do, because the core of Arrow is the team of Oliver, Diggle and Felicity, and it is at its very best when those three are united and working together (a lack of this was one of the problems with season 3). Obviously they cant just rush it in the first couple of episodes back, as that would be a disservice to Diggle, but they will have to show that the bridges are being slowly rebuilt, as opposed to just having it left hanging there between them unaddressed.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
