Arrow Season 2: 5 Reasons To Be Excited

5. The Island Storyline

arrow the island One of the things that makes Arrow such an intriguing show is the ability for the writers to seemingly intertwine Green Arrows back story with scenes from the present day. The establishment of "Lost"esque flashbacks have already established the foundations of how the writers will slowly reveal more and more of the back story, as well as allowing for the flashbacks to dive into the events with took place leading up to Oliver and his fathers trip out to see which resulted in Oliver ending up on the Island which begun his transformation into the Green Arrow. In the first season, the Island storyline slowly introduced us to characters who would play an important part in the story line, first there was Yao Fei, then Edward Fyers, then Slade Wilson and lastly Shado. All of whom have helped Oliver build up his character in one way or another which allows the audience to truly believe the transformation that Oliver went through to go from "spoiled rich brat" to "super tough vigilante". With Oliver's transformation starting to be seen at the end of the first season, as well as victory in the battle against Fyers, foiling his plans and forcing him to regroup leaves the battle on the island placed very precariously in the lead up to the second season. While Fyers will most likely be on the back foot after the events on the Island seen at the end of the first season, Fyers is the only one still in control of the only way on and off the Island and still has his employer who is clearly capable of sending further re-enforcements which Fyers will most certainly require since Shado, Oliver and Slade managed to wipe out most of Fyers' camp. Another option is for Fyers' employer, who was seen in a short clip towards the end of the first season, is to introduce a new element to the Island, and replacing Fyers as the main antagonist on the Island. Either way, the fight for control of the Island is by no means over, and neither is Oliver's transformation which should make for exciting storylines when season 2 rolls around.
