5. Baby Sara
Who She Is: Baby Sara is the daughter of John Diggle and Lyla Michaels. Fated to certainly be gorgeous as the product of those parents, the baby was named for Sara Lance shortly after Sara’s death.
Why She Cannot Die: Well, baby Sara mostly can’t die because she’s a baby. Arrow may be willing to go dark, but killing a baby is about a dozen steps too far. Just as Oliver could not be redeemable if he’d kidnapped Sara in place of her mother at the end of Season 3, Arrow might not be redeemable if Sara meets an untimely end.
On a less moralistic and more meta level, baby Sara needs to stick around because she is a symbol of hope for the future for Oliver. He gazed longingly at Felicity standing over the baby in the hospital at the end of the Season 3 premiere, shortly before breaking both of their hearts and giving up the possibility of having such a tableau of his own someday.
With Oliver already opening himself up to the happily-ever-after with Felicity, the symbol of the next step needs to remain alive and adorable.
