If the online fanbase of the show had its way, Laurel Lance would’ve died a thousand deaths by now. Her character, in particular during Season 2, has come in for more criticism and hate than any other on the show.

Some of it was excessive, but she was an extremely annoying, poorly-written character. Thanks to the death of Sara, her progression into Black Canary, and no longer being a potential love interest of Oliver, the character has grown quite a bit and while she still isn’t topping the popularity charts, she is now a more accepted part of the show.

Nevertheless, if she were to die it wouldn’t be the biggest loss to the show. She’s an expendable member of Team Arrow, and outside of being the Black Canary and helping to fight crime (something plenty others are capable of doing) she doesn’t serve that much purpose to the plot, apart from the drama between her and her father…
