Arrow Season 4: 9 Characters Who Need To Die

2. Detective Lance

Arrow John Barrowman
The CW

Detective Lance has gone from being a police officer who reluctantly worked with the Arrow, to a man who fully supported his actions and trusted him, right round to the point he is now heading up the operations to take him down.

Thanks to the death of Sara he has been driven back to the brink of drink and depression, and his desire to catch the Arrow and have him thrown in a cell is a result of that. His relationship with Laurel has also been fractured, and it’s become a fairly intolerable part of the show to have it tread over this father-daughter broken bond point time-and-again.

He has served Starling City extremely well, and is still capable of providing some fairly funny quips - e.g. his “must be May” line in the Season 3 finale - but ultimately it feels as though the character has run his course, and that the best way he can serve the plot now is unfortunately by dying.
